Waterproofing of walls by water-repellent impregnation

RELATED MATERIALS

PS-20 (former PROTESIL) Siloxane-based solution for waterproofing

I. NATURE OF THE PROBLEM – REQUIREMENTS

Moisture problems caused by rain in external walls are a common phenomenon, particularly when construction of a waterproof render has been neglected. Nevertheless, this problem is easily and effectively solved, even at a later stage.

II. SOLUTION

Impregnation of the external surfaces with PS-20, a transparent siloxane-based water-repellent liquid is the easiest and most affordable solution for waterproofing already constructed walls.

A prerequisite for treatment is that the surfaces to be treated should be inorganic and porous.

PS-20 penetrates the pores of the surface of the wall, impregnating it and making it water-repellent (hydrophobic). It provides exceptional water-repellence over a long period. It does not form a membrane on the treated surfaces nor does it alter their appearance.

It is suitable for impregnating natural stone, render, exposed brickwork and exposed concrete.

III. APPLICATION

PS-20 is applied by brush, roller or spraying in 1 to 2 coats. The second layer is applied once the first layer has completely dried.

Consumption: 0,2-0,4 lit/m2 in total, depending on the absorptivity of the surface.

IV. REMARKS

  • Surfaces waterproofed with PS-20 cannot be repainted soon after application.

  • PS-20 is not suitable for painted substrates.
